Zambia is in Southern Africa. Roughly the size of France, Zambia is a landlocked country, bordered by Tanzania to the northeast, Malawi to the east, Mozambique to the southeast, Zimbabwe and Botswana to the south, a narrow strip of Namibia to the southwest, Angola to the west, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the northwest. If you look at a map, Zambia appears to be squarely in the tropics, but thanks to its landlocked and elevated position it does have distinct seasons.

LUSAKA

Lusaka is the capital and largest city of Zambia. One of the fastest-developing cities in Southern Africa, Lusaka is located in the southern part of the central plateau at an elevation of about 1,300 metres (4,265 feet). As of 2010, the city's population is about 1.7 million. Lusaka is the centre of both commerce and government in Zambia and connects to the country's four main highways heading north, south, east and west. English is the official language of the city, but Nyanja, and Bemba are also common.

LIVINGSTONE

Livingstone was, until 2012, the capital of the Southern Province of Zambia. Lying 10 km (6.2 mi) to the north of the Zambezi River, it is a tourism centre for the Victoria Falls and a border town with road and rail connections to Zimbabwe on the other side of the Victoria Falls. A historic British colonial city, its present population was estimated at 136,897 inhabitants at the 2010 census. It is named after David Livingstone, the British explorer who was the first European to explore the area.

The Railway Museum is a museum in Livingstone, Zambia, dedicated to preserving Zambia's railway heritage, as well as holding an exhibition on the history of the Jewish race in Zambia.

The Victoria Falls Bridgecrosses the Zambezi River just below the Victoria Falls and is built over the Second Gorge of the falls.

The Livingstone Museum, formerly David Livingstone Memorial Museum and Rhodes-Livingstone Museum, is the largest and the oldest museum in Zambia, located in Livingstone near Victoria Falls.

Livingstone Island: One of the most thrilling experiences not only at the falls, but in Africa, is the hair-raising journey to Livingstone Island. The Maramba Cultural Museum is a museum in Livingstone, Zambia, dedicated to the preservation of traditional Zambian culture and art.

Livingstone Game Park: This tiny wildlife sanctuary is part of the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. OK, it's not South Luangwa, but it's easy to reach and home to a surprising range of animals, including zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, elephants and antelopes. And it's the only place in Zambia that boasts white rhinos.
